"The Douglas fir-clad sculptural staircase rises from the second floor of Walker Court, through the glass ceiling and extends to the fifth floor of the Vivian & David Campbell Centre for Contemporary Art. It was one of the last architectural elements to be completed in the $276 million transformation of the AGO." [Source: AGO website]
2004-2008 Frank Gehry designed expansion of and additon to the Art Gallery of Toronto is known as Transformation AGO; original 1916-18 construction of Walker Court by Darling & Pearson; address: 317 Dundas Street West
what about the subject?.... Hmmmm. I use conveyance for escalator, stairs, etc in my structures cataloging (comes from materials and construction textbooks) but it seems to mean something else in AAT. Should we use museum?
According to Mr. Gehry the subject may be love! "In designing the signature staircase, Gehry remarked that he hoped its warmth and intimacy would beckon visitors and become a place where people fall in love."

Would I add this here to this record as a "BEFORE" or should I do a separate for the building before transformation!?
What a cataloging conundrum! Love it!
