Using an image in Wikicatalog

Wikicatalog records do NOT require an image

To add a thumbnail image to wikicatalog:

A thumbnail image is a welcome (and legal) addition to a Wikicatalog record.  300 pixels -- or smaller -- in the longest dimension of the thumbnail is well-suited.

• Use the "Insert Links" section of the SideBar (to the right).
• Click "Images and files"
• Use the browse button to find the thumbnail image you want to upload
• upload the image
• replace the template text "Thumbnail image" with the image itself by highlighting "Thumbnail image" and clicking on the newly uploaded image (which appears in the sidebar; the most recent uploads are at the top)

To add a link to a full-sized image to a Wikicatalog record:

Link to a public domain Wikimedia or Flickr image, for example, or a museum website image

• Use the "Insert Links" section of the SideBar (to the right)
• Click "Insert a link to a new page"
• Choose URL from the pulldown list in the dialog box.
• paste the URL of the full-sized image into the box

To upload a full-sized public domain image to the Wikicatalog:

• Use the "Insert Links" section of the SideBar (to the right).
• Click "Images and files"
• Use the browse button to find the image you want to upload
• Upload the image
• Save the Wikicatalog record you are working on
• Use the SideBar to click "Files and images" (upper righthand side, near "Create a Page")
• Click the "All Files" on the left-hand side of the page
• Search for your uploaded file using the "Search" box on the right-hand side
• Click on the file
• Copy the URL for the image
• Return to your Wikicatalog record and choose Edit mode
• Use the "Insert Links" section of the SideBar (to the right)
• Click "Insert a link to a new page"
• Choose URL from the pulldown list in the dialog box.
• paste the URL of the full-sized image on the Wiki into the box
