Description :

A dramatic view of a windmill on a dark cliff, the sky cloudy with a lightened, blue area around the mill itself.  A river runs below the cliff to the right of the canvas, with a boat, its sail furled and a figure seated at the stern, near the shore.  A broad path leads down the cliff on the left hand side of the canvas with two figures, one a child, the other an adult, on the path.  Two figures are at the water's edge towards the center of the canvas.  The mill and the two sets of figures form a triangle at the center of the canvas, with the mill leading the eye to the cloudy sky.
